You can’t Manage what you can’t Measure!

There’s a reason why this Drucker-ism gets repeated so, so often; and perhaps we are better off to expand on it by adding that Your measures are only as good as the QUALITY of your FOUNDATION DATA.

This aspect around Foundation Data has recently been amplified in a 2024 survey by the APQC (American Productivity and Quality Centre) where they examined the top challenges affecting measures like the KPI reporting process.

The Top-3 challenges they found were

• Standards - 56% said measures are not standardised across business groups 

• Data Quality - 55% said that Data Quality was totally inadequate for the purpose

• Data Sources - 44% said that there were no standard (consistent) data sources
